Heights Kids Values:
Heights Kids is kid-centered
In all areas: music, environment/décor, games, crafts, lessons, etc.
Ask these questions:
“Are we doing the kinds of things children enjoy?”
“Are we singing the style of songs children want to sing?”
“Are we teaching lessons children understand?”
“Would children invite lost friends here?”
Heights Kids is safe
Physically: volunteer checks, room safety precautions
Emotionally: positive volunteers who speak highly of kids and have smiling faces 🙂
Spiritually: children are able to ask, wrestle, and grow with tough life questions
Heights Kids teaching is relevant
Relevant language: appropriate word choices for the age group being taught
Relevant to life: every time we are together should be able to answer 3 questions:
“Know what?” – Bible truth being taught
“So what?” – How the Bible truth relates to the children
“Now what?” – How children can apply that truth to their life
Heights Kids will teach the Bible creatively!
It is our goal to keep children engaged in the Story by using creative ways to present. Remember they all learn differently and will retain more if they experience the story through different avenues!
Heights Kids is Fun!!
It is engaging, interactive, and lets kids be kids!
Heights Kids Mission:
REACH children and their families.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
TEACH them the character, ways, and mission of Jesus.
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20
CONNECT them with the community of believers.
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-47
MODEL a life of full devotion to Christ.
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-9
